TY History students attend "1913 Lockout" talk in Lucan Library
On Thursday 5th of September, 25 TY History students attended a fascinating talk at Lucan Library. This was part of a series of events commemorating the 1913 Lockout. The talk titled " My mother was a child during the 1913 Lockout" was given by Dr Ann Matthews, historian and playwright.

Good Luck to all History students in their Leaving Certificate History Exam 2013!
Remember to
- Pace yourself - Keep to your time plan.
- Plan your essays (brainstorm of key points)
- A lot of marks can be picked up on the Case Studies - Document questions - Retreat from Empire. Know these well.
- Read the essay questions carefully, underline the key words and make sure each paragraph in your essay relates back to the key words in the question. Echo back these key words in a variety of different ways.

On Tuesday 30th April the 5th year history students in Lucan CC went on a city tour of Belfast.First stop was Stormont Parliament. Students were given a short history of the parliament and were then given the opportunity to speak to Pat Sheehan from Sinn Fein and former IRA activist and hunger striker. Conal McDevitt from the SDLP gave a very interesting talk on Northern Irish politics. After Stormont the students visited the Titanic exhibition. The tour finished with a tour of the murals on the Fall's and Shankill road.

Leaving Certificate History Mock Exams 2013
Good Luck to all our students doing mock exams. Remember to
- Watch your timing
- Read all questions carefully, underlining key words
- Plan your answers - for essays + context question
- For higher Level make sure you write in sufficient detail and length - for essays minimum 3 pages - 8/9 key paragraphs
- Focus on the answering the question - in each paragraph repeat/rephrase key words from the question and link to the main point/s made in the paragraph.
